Jeffrey G. Benz of the Agency for Dispute Resolution, will be speaking at the Law Accord International Convention, which will be held on May 22, 2012 in Québec City on the occasion of the SportAccord conference. The conference is tailored for sports federations, sports lawyers, litigators, and policy makers and will discuss the question, What is good governance in sport and why does it matter? Benz alongside other world-renowned speakers, including WADA’s Director General David Howman, Marquette University’s Matt Mitten, University of Western Ontario’s Richard McLaren, and International Council on Arbitration in Sport Vice President Michael Lenard, will discuss good governance in the cornerstone of preserving the autonomy of the sports movement. Particularly, Benz will discuss what it takes for sports governing bodies to have good governance and how structuring and adhering to appropriate dispute resolution processes and standards can assist organizations in their daily business. SportAccord is the annual business gathering of the organizations and individuals involved in the International Olympic movement.
