A consummate attorney, arbitrator, and mediator, Steve Smith has more than three decades of experience in corporate and business environments. Presently, Smith is an attorney at Sherman and Howard in Denver where he focuses his practice on international arbitration, mediation and aerospace and defense matters, including Space Law. For nearly fifteen years, Steve served as Vice President and General Counsel for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company where he was responsible for the oversight of all legal functions of the the $8 billion company. He also spent more than a decade at Martin Marietta Corporation, a predecessor of Lockheed Martin, where he served as general counsel of Martin’s largest division.
With extensive experience serving as senior corporate counsel, Steve has developed a keen understanding of a great variety of business disputes ranging from relatively small matters to multi-billion dollar litigation. Steve had an extraordinarily successful in house career and he employs decades of skills and lessons learned at the dispute resolution table. Smith holds a current Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance and previously held multiple Secure Compartmented Information clearances.
