Scott Van Soye, Esq., LL.M.

Scott Van Soye is a mediator, arbitrator, and trainer. He serves as an adjunct professor of law at Pepperdine University, where he earned an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution. Before becoming a full time neutral, Scott practiced real estate, employment, disability and education law for over 20 years. Scott is also the Managing Editor of ADR Times, the leading source of dispute resolution information for ADR practitioners, legal professionals, and scholars.

Scott spent over eight years as a judicial staff attorney. During this time, he dealt with almost every type of civil case. Notably, he was solely responsible for over 200 insurance coverage cases arising out of the catastrophic San Bernardino wildfires, and was the court CEQA attorney. In addition, he handled wrongful termination claims, personal Injury cases and real property disputes almost daily.

Scott has served as an appellate mediator for California’s Fourth District, Division Two since 2006. He also mediates for the San Bernardino and Los Angeles Superior Courts, and has mediated on behalf of the EEOC. He was recently recognized for his appellate mediation work by California’s Chief Justice, Tani Cantil-Sakauye. He frequently speaks and writes on dispute resolution topics.
