Timothy Pownall

Co-Founder | Advisor

Mr. Pownall is co-founder and an advisor of the Agency for Dispute Resolution. He is also the Assistant Director of the nationally recognized Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law; the Director of the PACIS PROJECT in Faith Based Diplomacy at the Straus Institute; Senior Fellow at the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy in Washington, D.C.; and, an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University. Mr. Pownall often serves as the host faculty for the Straus Institute’s renowned “Mediating the Litigated Case” training program. Mr. Pownall serves as the Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Conflict Resolution, a Los Angeles based non-profit NGO, and the largest provider of pro bono, Small Claims mediations for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Mr. Pownall formerly held senior executive positions with Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. (JAMS), the Follett Corporation (Chicago) and Barnes & Noble, Inc. (New York). Mr. Pownall started and grew a successful national management company with partners. As a successful commercial mediator, Mr. Pownall continues to mediate cases through his private practice.

Mr. Pownall makes his home in Thousand Oaks, CA with his wife Peggy. They have two adult married children.
